I’ve had a lot of people ask me how I did the Bear Sandwich that I used in the Zoo Field Trip Bento.
It’s really very easy. In fact, it took way more time to edit the photos than it did to make the sandwich.
~ Sandwich Fixins of your choice.
~ Large round cookie cutter
~ Mini heart cutter & Mini egg cutter
~ Fruit Leather
~ Icing Eyes (Homemade or Store Bought)
~ Knife & Sticky condiment of your choice
With your mini cutters, cut two eggs and one heart out of the fruit leather.
Using the heart cutter, now cut the top of the heart off, this will be the bear’s mouth.
And finally use the point of the heart to snip off one corner of the remaining fruit leather for the bear’s nose.
Make sure to save what’s left of the heart, but the rest you are free to nibble.
Mmmm Fruit Leather!
Cut two slices of bread with the large circle cutter. You can make the sandwich before or after you cut. It just depends on what you want to do with the leftovers.
Once you have all the pieces (heart is missing from photo above), you’re ready to assemble.
Take a condiment of your choice and start ‘gluing’ the pieces onto your sandwich.
I find I prefer to use peanut butter. It’s thick and sticky, and doesn’t make the things it touches soggy.
Once you have the face “glued” on, you cut the remaining heart in half and insert into the sandwich for the Bear’s ears.
Tah Da! One easy bear sandwich.
